EMANUEL MELUBO | Owner/ Head Guide
Emanuel is a Maasai Warrior, born and raised in the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands. After finishing his studies at Mweka Wildlife College–one of the most prestigious wildlife management schools in Africa–he also completed advanced-level courses in guiding. Since then he has worked with some of the best tour companies in Tanzania.
He is a certified wilderness first aid responder, so you're always in the safest hands. He is also a member of the Interpretive Guides Society, a voluntary society for conservation-minded safari guides who are interested in furthering their knowledge, experience and insights in Tanzania's natural habitats.
Emanuel has a vast knowledge and understanding of the African bush and wildlife, and is a true naturalist. He is also an expert in birds and animal behavior.
He has spent time both in Europe and the United States, which helps him better understand every guests' needs. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and his tours are always a true adventure.
Our staff brings many years of professional and personal travel experience to ensure every booking is handled with excellence and professionalism. Sidai Africa is dedicated to providing quality service and expert knowledge to our clients, from the initial point of contact to the end of their stay–and often long after they have returned home.
We use 4×4 Land Cruiser safari vehicles on all of our tours. They are outfitted with pop-up roofs, allowing you the best vantage point to view wildlife. Each car accommodates up to 8 people.
At Sidai Africa we encourage and help our guests to learn about the different peoples of Tanzania. We are always happy to organize visits with local communities. We wholeheartedly subscribe to the philosophy of Michael Palin, who said: “Getting to know more about each other remains one of the most important hopes for the peaceful future of the planet. If we are really to understand each other better, then we need to be reminded to travel carefully and thoughtfully, listening to people along the way and respecting the world we are privileged to travel through." We are also more than happy to coordinate a volunteer position for you, whether its teaching at a school or working on a sustainable farm. We have a wide network of local projects that help communities and we will work very hard to find the perfect match for your skills and interest.
The quality of the environment, both natural and man-made, is essential to tourism. However, tourism's relationship with the environment is complex. The negative impacts of tourism development can gradually destroy the environmental resources on which it depends. On the other hand, tourism can create beneficial effects by contributing to environmental protection and conservation. It is a way to raise awareness of environmental values and it can serve as a tool to finance protection of natural areas and increase their economic importance.
At Sidai Africa we are acutely aware of the challenges that tourism poses to the fragile ecosystem of Tanzania's National Parks. We deeply care about environmental and wildlife conservation. We tailor each of our tours in a way that we disturb nature and its inhabitants as little as possible. We are determined to leave no physical evidence of our visits but our footprints.
We also believe that income from tourism can be a powerful incentive for conservation. Each of our employees share these believes and we hope that traveling with Sidai Africa will leave you with the feeling that your trip in some small (or not so small) way contributed to the preservation of our beautiful Tanzania.
Our non-profit partner, Sidai Designs in Arusha, Tanzania helps Maasai women generate income by utilizing their existing beading skills.
Sidai Designs provides tools and strategies for sustainable development, as well as education. Its aim is to provide hope and a sense of purpose using traditional artistry and creativity. Sidai Designs believes that sustainable employment will help to overcome poverty, help the women’s social standing and improve access to health and educational services, eventually helping their communities.
We welcome you to visit the Sidai Designs workshop and meet the women. At the center, you can also participate in one of the beading classes or just simply sit with them learning about their lives, while sipping traditional Maasai tea. Please don't hesitate to contact us to organize a visit or schedule a class for you.
